The 1st Annual Chili Cook-off was such a huge success!
Thank you for the opportunity to be part of your son/brothers memory. I saw his face, on the neighborhood app, and knew I wanted to be a part of remembering him. I struggle everyday with my anxiety diagnosis many years ago. Until yesterday, I didn't realize he reused meds, they didn't work for me either. I realized why I connected, connected yesterday, reading his story. Although we didn't know each other, yesterday, I felt very close to Spencer. Apparently he approved of our chili too! The prizes were so generous and heartfelt. Our trophy sits on top of our refrigerator, in honor of how much Spencer was loved. I know his pain and fight, I know the strength it takes everyday. He is forever in my thoughts.
I wanted to personally thank you for all you do for suicide awareness and prevention. I lost my husband to suicide years ago. He never talked about the thoughts and feelings he was having. In public, he was very social. Always laughing, and he as the first one to offer to help anyone in need. I wish he would have opened up about what he was mentally/emotionally going through. I am so glad you do what you do, so maybe, just maybe...... others will get help, and talk about it! Make it a normal conversation.
All of the food was so over the top. There was so much to choose from. I look forward to the next one!
